Parents, teachers and students work together to ensure that the highest possible standards are maintained in all areas of school life at Blessed Carlo Acutis.
A student’s willingness to wear the correct uniform accompanies an attitude to school, which usually maximises success in learning and personal development. It also indicates a family’s commitment to the values and ethos of the school, which is crucial to the growth and development of our young people. There are a number of good reasons for having a school uniform:
- It is a sign of commitment, pride and a badge of belonging to our school
- It is a way of avoiding an expensive ‘fashion contest’ in school
- It keeps young people focused on their studies
- It stops differences emerging between ‘those who have and those who have not’
The uniform is compulsory for all students. The Headteacher and all staff reserve the right to determine acceptable standards of dress and appearance. The aim is to help students learn that dress codes are a fact of life and that ‘dressing for success’ is a good preparation for adult and working life.
All items are compulsory. It is expected that the full school uniform is worn correctly during the school day and on journeys to and from school. We are confident that our parents will always understand the need to support the school to make sure that our high standards of uniform are maintained. Please do not allow your child to persuade you to buy non-uniform items, as this will cause unnecessary expenses. It is vital that we as adults (school and parent working in partnership) help our children to grow and mature by setting clear boundaries of behaviour.
Keeping the Costs down
With the introduction of the new uniform, we removed the burden of items with unnecessary logos and therefore we pride ourselves on having only one item of branded clothing – the tie. This keeps the cost of uniform to a minimum for all families and allows it to be purchased from numerous outlets. The tie can only be purchased from the academy, this ensures that no profit is gained from the branded item.
All new year 7 are provided with costly items for their first uniform, this includes: Tie, Blazer, PE shorts, PE top and PE Socks.
The Academy has a stock of pre-loved uniform that has been washed and checked by staff. If you are struggling to purchase a uniform or keep up with your child’s growth spurts, please contact your child’s Head of Year who will be happy to help. Like-wise, if you can donate uniform items that your child has grown out of, please bring them into the academy and leave at reception. All donations are greatly appreciated.
