GCSE Exam Information
The Examinations Office is responsible for the administration and organisation of all aspects of external examinations in accordance with the regulations laid down by their awarding bodies.
This includes submitting entries for exams to meet Exam Board deadlines, organising Access Arrangements for students requiring additional support, coordinating examination rooms and the invigilation required to supervise the students, as well as resolving any problems which may arise beforehand or during the examination sessions. If you have any concerns, please contact Mrs Horsler, the exams officer.
Exam Timetables
Individual exam timetables will be given to candidates in mid-February/March. It is the responsibility of the student to let the Exams Officer know of any errors or omissions on their timetable.
Results
Candidates will receive individual results slips on results day, either
- in person at the centre between 9am and 11am or
- given to another person, provided written permission has been given by the candidate to release the results and the named person brings in photographic evidence of their ID
The results slip will be in the form of a centre produced document. Candidates will also receive information regarding the Enquiries about results services (EARs) offered by the exam boards.
Uncollected results slips will then be available for collection from the exams office.
Enquiries about results (EARs)
Further information will be available to parents and students near to results day.
Certificates
Your examination certificates are very important and are evidence of your hard work and school career. If you lose them, they are very expensive to replace, so look after them carefully. Certificates are usually given out during an Awards Evening later in the year, but if you are unable to attend, you may collect your certificates in person from school, or send a note explaining that you give permission for someone else to collect them for you.
Notices to candidates
The Joint Council for Qualifications publishes Notices to Candidates on their website http://www.jcq.org.uk/exams-office/information-for-candidates-documents including important guidance on written exams, privacy and social media.
Exam Certificates
Exam Certificates are important legal documents that prove your qualifications. You may be asked to show your certificates to all future educational establishments and employers and it is therefore important that you keep them safe. All certificates issued by Exams Boards are sent directly to school and are held securely in the Exams Office for up to 6 years.
Students who sat exams in the past academic year;
Students who have left in the past year or who have not collected certificates, will receive notification when their certificates are ready for collection. We are unable to post certificates as we cannot guarantee their safety. If you are unable to collect your certificates personally, you can email us on ahorsler@blessedca.sjcmat.co.uk giving your permission for someone you know to collect them on your behalf.
Students who sat exams in the past 6 years and have not collected certificates;
If you have not already collected your certificates please contact the Exams Office by emailing ahorsler@blessedca.sjcmat.co.uk. We will look for your certificates and email you back once these are ready for you to collect. If you call in without first emailing, we cannot guarantee there will be somebody available to provide you with your certificates and you may be asked to leave your details. If you are unsure if you’ve collected your certificates, please email us as we keep records of certificate collection.
Students who have lost certificates / sat exams over 6 years ago;
Our computer systems have changed in the past few years and it is unlikely that we have details of your results or which Exam Boards you took your qualifications with before 2018. The exam boards are now known as AQA, CCEA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, Cambridge International and City and Guilds. You will need to contact them directly and fill in an online application, they will initiate a record check and issue certified statements of results. You will need to tell them the year you sat your qualifications, your name, date of birth, our centre name (Blessed Carlo Acutis Catholic and Church of England Academy) and centre number (40209). There will be a charge for this service.
